Frown Lines

The two lines that stay when you stop frowning.

You see them after a long day at the screen. Two vertical lines between your brows, the 11 lines, that used to disappear the second your face relaxed. Lately they linger, and in flat light they sit there even when you are smiling.

CONCERN & CAUSES

Why the 11 Lines Form Between Your Brows

Most patients call them one thing. In the treatment room, frown lines split into a few distinct presentations, and each one needs a slightly different layer of treatment.

01

Muscle Pull

Two small muscle groups, the corrugator and the procerus, pull the brows inward each time you squint or concentrate, folding the skin between your brows thousands of times a year.

02

Dynamic Frown Lines

These lines show up only when you frown, squint, or concentrate, and the skin still rebounds once the muscles relax. Softening the inward pull stops the crease from deepening over time.

03

Static Frown Lines

Here the crease is etched at rest, even when the face is relaxed. The muscle pull still matters, but the skin has remodelled around the groove, so treatment usually needs a second layer.

04

Collagen and Elastin Loss

Over years the dermis thins as collagen drops and elastin is lost, so skin no longer springs back from folding. The same crease sets in, and rebuilding the skin softens it from below.

Treatment Benefits

Treatments That Soften Frown Lines in Pickering

Frown lines respond in layers. Victoria, an RN with over a decade of clinical experience, softens the muscle pull first, then rebuilds skin quality and restores support where the crease has etched in at rest.

Botox

Botox

A neuromodulator treatment. Small, precisely placed doses relax the corrugator and procerus, the muscles that pull the brows inward and create the 11 lines between them.

Liquid Facelift

Liquid Facelift

A full upper-face balancing approach using hyaluronic acid injection across the temples, brow support, and the area around the glabella to restore structure lost over time.

RF Microneedling

RF Microneedling

A treatment that delivers radiofrequency energy at controlled depth through fine micro-channels, triggering new collagen where the skin has thinned around the crease.

Skin Booster Microneedling

Skin Booster Microneedling

A treatment that combines microchannelling with hyaluronic acid delivered into the upper dermis to hydrate and plump skin at the level where fine lines begin.

How to Protect Your Skin Between Treatments

Softening the muscle pull is the main lever, but the skin around the crease still ages with daily UV and dryness. The habits below protect skin quality and help your results hold longer between visits.

FAQ

Common Questions About
Frown Lines Treatment

Most patients see the muscle pull soften over the first 7 to 14 days and hold results for 3 to 4 months. With consistent treatment over time, some hold longer because the muscles gradually weaken from reduced use.

Dynamic lines appear only when you frown and disappear when your face relaxes. Static lines stay etched at rest. Dynamic lines respond well to Botox alone. Static lines often need Botox plus a second layer, hyaluronic acid injection for volume, or RF microneedling for the skin around the groove.

Botox softens the muscle pull that creates and reinforces frown lines. For dynamic lines, that often makes them disappear at rest. For deeply etched static lines, Botox softens but rarely fully erases the crease on its own, and results vary from person to person.

There is no fixed age. Some patients start in their late twenties to prevent dynamic lines from etching in. Others come in their forties or fifties to soften static lines. The right time is when the lines bother you and the assessment shows you are a candidate.

Not when the dose is right. Victoria reduces the inward muscle pull enough to stop the line from deepening while leaving natural expression intact. You can still furrow slightly, smile fully, and move your face normally.

Cost depends on the units used, whether volume restoration or RF microneedling is part of your plan, and the number of sessions. Victoria provides a clear cost outline at your consultation so you can plan the full protocol upfront.

Botox has essentially no downtime, just small marks that fade within hours and occasional minor bruising. Hyaluronic acid injection may produce mild swelling for a few days. RF microneedling involves redness for 24 to 48 hours.

Yes, and often it should be. Treating the glabella in isolation can leave an imbalanced look. Most patients have the forehead assessed at the same visit, and many include the crow's feet for a more complete, balanced upper-face result.

Botox results start at day 3 to 5, with full effect at day 10 to 14. Hyaluronic acid injection is visible immediately, with final settling at 2 to 4 weeks. RF microneedling builds gradually over months.

Neuromodulator results are temporary, so the muscle pull returns as the product wears off over 3 to 4 months. Most patients maintain with treatment a few times a year, and over time the muscles often weaken from reduced use, which can stretch the interval between visits. Collagen-building work like RF microneedling is held with a maintenance session every several months.
