DP4 Microneedling Goals

What DP4 Microneedling Treats

Acne Scars

Acne Scars

Micro-channels created in scar tissue stimulate collagen remodeling that progressively raises and softens atrophic acne scars over a series of sessions.

Treatments+

Micro-channels through scar tissue prompt the skin to remodel collagen, gradually lifting and softening atrophic scars over a series of sessions.

Causes+

A breakout damages the skin too deeply for collagen to fully rebuild, so the tissue heals slightly sunken and leaves a depressed scar.

FAQ

Your DP4 Microneedling Questions,

Everything you need to know about microneedling before your appointment at Victoria Rose Aesthetics.

DP4 microneedling creates micro-channels without added energy, relying on the body's wound healing response. RF microneedling (Sylfirm X) delivers radiofrequency energy through the needles for deeper collagen stimulation and tightening. RF microneedling is generally better suited to significant laxity and deep scars.

Three sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart is the standard recommendation for most concerns. Deeper scar protocols may require 4 to 6 sessions. Results build gradually over 6 to 12 weeks as new collagen matures, with visible improvement typically appearing after the second session.

Most patients rate the experience a 2 or 3 out of 10 once topical numbing has taken effect. A numbing cream is applied for 30 to 45 minutes beforehand. During the session the face feels like mild scratching or a sandpaper-like vibration as the device moves across the skin, with slightly more sensation around the nose, hairline, and jawline where the skin is thinner. Mild stinging may occur for an hour after treatment, then settles into a sunburn-like warmth that resolves within 24 hours.

Redness and mild puffiness for 24 to 48 hours is typical. Most patients return to normal activities the next day, with daily SPF required from day 2 to protect the new collagen.

Yes, and many patients choose to combine the two. PRP applied during microneedling delivers concentrated growth factors into the micro-channels to support collagen stimulation. We offer this as a combined treatment.

Yes. Microneedling is well-tolerated when performed by a trained provider using a Health Canada-approved device and a sterile single-use needle cartridge for every patient. Pre-treatment assessment screens for contraindications such as active breakouts, cold sore outbreaks, recent isotretinoin use, and pregnancy. Microneedling is colour-blind, meaning it does not target melanin, so it is safe for all Fitzpatrick skin types. Post-treatment redness and mild puffiness for 24 to 48 hours is normal, and strict sun protection from day 2 supports healing.

Microneedling uses fine needles to create precise micro-channels in the skin, triggering a controlled wound healing response that stimulates new collagen and elastin over the following weeks. This gradually improves skin texture, firmness, and tone, and the micro-channels also let topical serums penetrate more effectively. The DP4 facial treatment addresses fine lines, enlarged pores, dull texture, and superficial acne scarring, using a Health Canada-approved motorized device with adjustable needle depth from 0.25mm to 3.0mm and a hyaluronic acid serum infused during treatment for hydration.

Microneedling has strong clinical evidence for improving acne scars, fine lines, enlarged pores, and skin texture by stimulating the skin's own collagen and elastin. It is one of the more reliable collagen induction treatments available with minimal downtime. Results build over 6 to 12 weeks as new collagen matures, with visible improvement typically appearing after the second of 3 standard sessions. Outcomes depend on your skin type, concern severity, and consistency with the schedule. Deeper scar concerns or skin laxity may respond better to RF microneedling (Sylfirm X) or laser resurfacing, which we can discuss at consultation.

Pricing depends on the treatment area, needle depth, and any add-on serums or growth factor infusions. The DP4 facial treatment is priced per session, with package pricing available for the standard series of 3 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. Deeper scar protocols requiring 4 to 6 sessions are quoted separately, as are extended areas like the neck or chest, and PRP infusion is available as an add-on. Current pricing is shared at your consultation so we can build an accurate quote around your concerns and recommended session count.

Avoid all makeup for the first 24 hours. The micro-channels remain open for several hours, and applying makeup during this window risks introducing bacteria or pigment into the deeper skin layers, which can cause irritation, breakouts, or post-inflammatory pigmentation. After 24 hours, mineral makeup applied with clean brushes is the safest option, and you should wait 48 hours before resuming liquid foundation or full coverage. You will receive a written aftercare sheet covering makeup timing, sun protection from day 2, and which active ingredients to pause during healing.
