The crease you cannot see anymore.
Eyeliner vanishes the moment you open your eyes. In photos the upper lid reads as one smooth stretch of skin, a fold resting where your lashes begin. A hooded eyelid means the skin between brow and lash line folds over the natural crease, hiding some or all of the lid.

CONCERN & CAUSES
Why Eyelids Become Hooded
Skin between the brow and the lash line folds over the natural crease and rests where the lid used to show. Four mechanisms produce that fold, and they respond to different treatments. The assessment identifies which are at work in your anatomy, because the answer determines the plan.
01
You Were Born With Them
Many people have hooded eyes from their twenties, shaped by a lower brow bone and a crease set close to the lash line. Stable anatomy like this only needs attention if it deepens.
02
The Brow Settles Lower
The forehead loses structural support with age and the entire brow settles lower. Much of what reads as an eyelid problem is a brow position problem, skin gathering over a crease it once cleared.
03
The Lid Skin Lengthens
Upper eyelid skin is among the thinnest on the body. As collagen and elastin decline it stretches and folds instead of snapping back, and sun exposure accelerates that stretch more than time does.
04
The Outer Brow Deflates
Soft tissue that supports the tail of the brow thins with age. Without that scaffolding the outer brow descends first, which is why hooding usually begins at the outer corner of the eye.
Treatment Options
Non-Surgical Lifting for Hooded Eyelids in Pickering
Hooding driven by brow position calls for a different plan than hooding driven by skin laxity. We assess where your brow sits, how much lid skin is present, and how the two interact before recommending anything. Most plans pair a lifting treatment with a skin-quality one, and the change is measured in millimetres.

Sofwave
A focused ultrasound treatment that stimulates new collagen along the brow line, lifting the brow position with no incision and no needles.

Botox Brow Lift
A precise placement of Botox or Nuceiva in the muscles that pull the brow downward, allowing the forehead muscle to lift the brow one to three millimetres.

Sylfirm X RF Microneedling
A radiofrequency microneedling treatment that delivers energy through ultrafine needles to remodel collagen in the periorbital skin.

Tixel Treatment
A thermo-mechanical treatment that applies brief, calibrated thermal contact to the eyelid, resurfacing and tightening the lid skin directly.
How to Protect the Lift Between Treatments
Collagen remodelling is not permanent. Professional treatment lifts the brow and firms the lid, and daily habits hold the result. A maintenance session once or twice a year keeps a lift that would otherwise fade over eighteen to twenty-four months.
Remove Makeup Without Tugging

FAQ
Common Questions About
Hooded Eyelid Treatment
Hooded eyes are an eye shape where skin between the brow and lash line folds over the natural crease, making the lid partially or fully hidden when the eye is open. Many people are born with the shape. In others it develops gradually as the brow descends and lid skin loses firmness with age. Both versions are common, and only the second one involves a change you can treat.
Mild to moderate hooding responds well to non-surgical treatment. Ultrasound or radiofrequency energy can lift the brow a few millimetres and firm the lid skin, and a precisely placed neuromodulator can raise the brow position. What non-surgical treatment cannot do is remove skin. When there is significant excess resting on the lashes, surgery is the honest answer.
Indirectly, yes. Botox or Nuceiva placed in the muscles that pull the brow down allows the forehead muscle to lift the brow, which raises the hood off the lid. The lift is measured in millimetres, but around the eyes millimetres change how open the eye looks. Placement is the entire game; a heavy forehead dose can make hooding worse.
Often it does more than treating the lid itself. Much of what looks like excess eyelid skin is really a brow that has settled lower, pushing skin down over the crease. Lifting the brow, whether with ultrasound collagen stimulation or a neuromodulator, restores the space the lid used to have.
Frequently. If your parents have hooded eyes, you likely inherited the shape, and it may have been visible from your twenties. Genetic hooding tends to be stable. Age-related hooding progresses, which is why the assessment looks at old photos when the history is unclear.
It depends on which mechanism is driving your hooding and which treatments your plan combines. A neuromodulator brow lift is priced by unit, and energy-based treatments are priced by session or series. You receive an exact quote at your consultation after the assessment, before anything is booked.
A neuromodulator brow lift lasts about three to four months. Collagen-based results from ultrasound or radiofrequency build over three months and typically hold twelve to twenty-four months, depending on your age, skin, and sun habits. Most patients maintain with one or two sessions a year.
The treatments we use for eyelids are designed for the periorbital area. Tixel in particular uses direct thermal contact rather than a laser beam, which allows treatment near the lash line with protective eye shields in place. Your injector or aesthetician reviews your history first, and anything unsuitable for your anatomy comes off the table at assessment.
A neuromodulator brow lift settles within two weeks. Energy-based treatments work on your collagen timeline: subtle firming in the first month, visible change at six to eight weeks, full result near twelve. It is a gradual reveal rather than an overnight change, which is why most patients simply hear that they look rested.
When skin rests on the lashes, when hooding narrows your peripheral vision, or when the excess is simply more than energy and dosing can address. Victoria Rose Cyr, RN, BScN, has spent more than a decade in clinical aesthetics and trains injectors across Canada, and part of that discipline is knowing the edge of the tool. If surgery is the right answer, you will hear it at the assessment.
